Jeremiah 29:13
And ye shall seek me, and find [me], when ye shall search for me with all your heart
These are weekly devotions that are shared with the members of Gateway Baptist Church in Fultondale Al. including myself. They are written by a young man named Terry Smith. He is one of the people that God has put in my path to help me see that there are people that really do look for God in everything. His devotions have been a real blessing to me and others, so I would like to share them with you.
WHO WILL STAND IN THE GAP
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while
we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (KJV)
I was watching a purely science fiction show some years ago. The storyline was about a man who had awoken after having been in a coma for forty years. The first few minutes of the program dealt with the man adjusting to the new world he was in after forty years of being in a coma. The biggest change was that he had grown into an old man.
One day he was walking down the hallway of the hospital and he heard someone call out his name. He walked into a hospital room where a young girl of about fourteen lay. She was in a coma and looked simply like she was asleep. Although you never heard the girl’s voice, it was clear that the old man was communicating with her by what he said. The parents were in the room and thought he was crazy and ordered him to leave. He told them that he WAS where the little girl IS for a very long time. The little girl, still in her coma, communicated some information to the old man that only her and her parents knew. The parents realized that he could communicate with her and welcomed him to visit. He came every day. One day something was different. One day as he was talking to the little girl, she told him that there were some people with her that she had never seen before. The people wanted her to walk into the light. She said it was so warm and beautiful, she really needed to go. The old man knew this was death and told the little girl not to go. The little girl and the old man argued and he argued back for her not to go. There came a point when he finally shouted "You tell them to leave you alone! If they want some one, tell then to come take me." No sooner had he said this, than his eyes got big, he clutched his chest and slumped to the floor, obviously dead of a heart attack. As soon as he died, the little girl woke up out of her coma. She was completely normal and the first thing she wanted to know was where her friend had gone. He had given his life so that she could have hers back.
Folks, God made us in His image. Satan, through sin, ruined God's creation. Through the fall into sin, we were destined for certain death and everlasting destruction in Hell. Satan wanted to destroy me. He wanted me to go to Hell. Jesus said I love Terry. With three nails and two pieces of wood, Jesus built a bridge that spanned the distance between sinful man and righteous God. In a sense, Jesus said "You leave him alone, if you want someone take me! Jesus willingly became sin for me, willingly gave his life, so that I, and you by the way, could have eternal life. He suffered a cruel death on the cross so that I would not have to spend an eternity in Hell. II Corinthians 5:21 says, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might become the righteousness of God in him." He gave his life for me so that I could be forgiven and become adopted into the family of God. My sins are forgiven and although I am still a sinner physically, I am counted as righteous by the blood of Jesus Christ. Today, Jesus is alive and seated at the right hand of God the Father. He defeated death , Hell and the grave so that I could live forever with Him! WELL GLORY AND PRAISE HIS NAME!
He couldn't cross the bloodline, Satan was defeated,
He couldn't cross the bloodline of my soul,
He wanted to destroy me, but the blood of Jesus protected me,
He couldn't cross the bloodline of my soul.....
WELL GLORY!
